Dissociation, a mind that drifts away,
A soul that leaves, in the light of day.
It takes us to a place, that’s not our own,
Leaves us feeling lost, and all alone.
It numbs our senses, it dulls our mind,
And leaves us in a world, that’s hard to find.
It steals our peace, it steals our rest,
And leaves us feeling disconnected, at our very best.
But still we rise, and face the fear,
With courage that we hope is near.
We take a step, and then another one,
And slowly, slowly, our journey has begun.
To see the beauty in the pain,
To find the light, and the peace again.
And though it’s hard, and it’s not fair,
We choose to keep moving, to show we care.
For we are survivors, of what was done,
And in our hearts, our spirit has won.
We are strong, we are brave,
And our story will always be told.
So when you feel the grip of dissociation,
Remember the love, and the peace that’s inside.
Remember the hope, and the courage you’ve tried,
And know that healing is always by your side.
